ENLARGEMENT AND GUT RENOVATION
BROOKLYN, NY
5,286.00 SQ.FT.
2024
This project involved the horizontal enlargement of an existing 4-story multifamily building in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. The 12-foot rear extension of the building enabled the creation of four generously sized two-bedroom apartments, each with an area averaging 1,000 sq.ft.
The design features a contemporary aesthetic, with white oak floors, dark wood doors, and tall black doors with matching hardware, adding a modern touch to each unit. The expansive kitchens include a functional peninsula, perfect for both cooking and entertaining.
The exterior of the building was also refreshed, with upgraded windows and a newly installed entrance door, enhancing both curb appeal and energy efficiency.
Manuel Zarate, RA, was the project architect for this building alteration during his time at Bricolage Designs, overseeing the design and execution of the expansion. This project not only increased the property’s value by creating larger, more desirable living spaces but also elevated its design, making it a standout addition to the Carroll Gardens neighborhood.
